Location: The Salem Pantry, Salem, MA – 27 Congress Street, Salem MA 01970
Hours: 2-10 hours per week
Duration/Pay: The Salem Pantry offers both semester and year-long internships. Paid stipends may be available for certain internship opportunities.

The Salem Pantry provides the North Shore with convenient access to fresh, free, healthy food. Our innovative mobile pantries, home deliveries, and The Market offer an abundant selection of produce, proteins, spices, and dairy products. We partner with local farmers and health organizations to nourish our community from the inside out.

Overview

The Salem Pantry is seeking a dynamic and creative intern interested in a combination of hands-on and office-based projects to support our growing food security work during the 2024/25 school year. This internship will assist the Mobile Pantry Manager in providing reliable access to food in communities where it is most needed for half of their time and work with the Director of Programs and Partnerships for the other half.

Responsibilities

Programs Teams Support (50%):

Develop operational planning skills by implementing portions of our strategic plan.

Mobile Pantry Management (50%)

  • Assist our Mobile Market Manager in exploring new routes.
  • Choose foods appropriate to individual mobile locations.
  • Gain experience in volunteer management in a non-profit setting.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Spanish language skills are preferred.
  • Semester and year-long internships available.
