General Description

This full time, 40 hours/week position is responsible for providing crisis intervention, advocacy and referral services to survivors of domestic violence through our community office in Salem, MA. This is a salaried position with annual compensation in the range of $45,000 – $50,000 with consideration given to bilingual language skills (compensated at $1,500/year) and experience. This position is generally scheduled for 9:00 am-5:00 pm Monday- Friday, with bimonthly participation in client workshops that may occur after 5:00 pm. The position is in a hybrid work model with the option to work up to two days remotely and is supervised by HAWC’s Manager of Community-Based Services. This position requires access to reliable transportation and ability to meet in person with clients at each of our service locations: Salem, Lynn and Gloucester. A $500 bonus is available after three months of employment in good standing and a second bonus of $500 available after six months of employment in good standing.

Position Responsibilities

  • Provide support, crisis intervention, advocacy and information and referral services to survivors of domestic violence
  • Complete intakes and follow up sessions with clients
  • Maintain a client caseload, providing follow-up contact and services as needed
  • Complete statistical paperwork for each client contact
  • Co-facilitate support groups in rotation with other Advocates
  • Participate in meetings with other local agencies
  • Participate in outreach/tabling events with the local community

Position Requirements

  • Participate in HAWC’s 27-hour training of new staff and volunteers
  • Attend regular supervision, team meetings and all staff meetings
  • Able to flex hours to meet position responsibilities
  • Must have reliable access to transportation
  • Familiarity with basic computer/internet use
